The GI Standards and Consultations Committee is looking to recruit new members following the regular refresh of committee members with some longer-standing members standing down.  One such member, who was the previous Chair of the Committee, shares his thoughts on what the Committee does and why it is such an interesting committee to be a part of.

“The GISCC provides practitioner input to actuarial standards set by UK and international bodies.  The committee also responds to a wide range of industry consultations, leading the drafting where these have a significant GI content, and adding GI points to those led by other areas of the profession.  The responses are centred on the public interest rather than any single industry view.  A varied range of topics are considered, recent examples include climate change, personal injury compensation, liquidity, Solvency II and autonomous vehicles.  This breadth means that the committee needs members from diverse GI backgrounds.  The committee regularly links in to the expertise of working parties and other individual specialists in the GI market.  In my time on the committee I have enjoyed learning from the expertise of others as well as contributing my own thoughts. It has been a very rewarding experience which I highly recommend.”
