09.35-10.35: GMP Equalisation Update

This session will summarise the recent judgement in the Lloyds’ GMP equalisation case and consider potential next steps for pension schemes.

11.50-12.50: Protecting Defined Benefit Schemes – A New Funding Code

Ahead of the formal consultation on a new Code of Practice on Funding in 2019, TPR is talking to interested stakeholders on the design of clearer funding standards. This session will provide an update on this process and other developments in TPR’s approach to regulating defined benefit schemes.

13.40-14.40: Global Macro Trends, Today and Tomorrow

With the global economy showing signs of recovery, investors are starting to ask why and how long this might last. This session will look at the key drivers of growth, today and tomorrow, also touching on a longer term theme relevant for pension scheme investing, the driver of demographic changes on the global economy.

14.40-15.40: Pension Scheme Consolidation

A recap on recent developments, focussing on the new ‘commercial’ consolidators, the Pensions Superfund and Clara, together with a look ahead to the DWP’s consultation on regulating consolidators, and the potential issues for trustees, employers and their actuaries when considering scheme consolidation.

15.55-16.55: An update on the S3 mortality tables

The CMI’s consultation on its proposals for publishing the new S3 series of pension scheme mortality tables closed on 14 September.  This session will provide an update on the feedback received and the CMI’s plans for formal publication.
