The Brexit Budget: What next for the UK economy? Please join us for our annual Spring Lecture presented by Vicky Pryce in Edinburgh. Vicky is Chief Economic Adviser and a board member at the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR).

In her lecture, Vicky will provide an in depth look at the first budget from Boris Johnson’s Government and dissect what this could mean for the direction of fiscal policy as the UK navigates its departure from the EU. Drawing upon her experience as Head of the UK Government’s Economic Service, Vicky will comment on the economic challenges facing government, and the impact that the Budget announcements could have on the economy in the short and long term. Whilst we don’t yet have the budget, it is likely the announcements will impact GDP, interest rates, employment rights and financial regulation. Vicky Pryce holds a number of academic posts and is a Fellow and Council member of the UK Academy for Social Sciences, a Fellow of the Society of Professional Economists and a Companion of the British Academy of Management. She was until recently on the Council of the Institute for Fiscal Studies and is a member of the Advisory Board of the central banking think-tank OMFIF and of the Economic Advisory Group of the British Chambers of Commerce and also a Patron of Pro-Bono Economics and Working Chance. Her books include: “Greekonomics: The Euro crisis and Why Politicians Don't Get It”; “It's the Economy, Stupid- Economics for Voters”, with Ross and Urwin; ‘Why Women Need Quotas’ with Stefan Stern; and “Redesigning Manufacturing”, with Nielsen and Beverland’.

Her latest book, ‘Women vs Capitalism’ was published in November 2019. She is co-founder of GoodCorporation, a company set up to advise on corporate social responsibility, is a Freeman and Liveryman of the City of London, was the first female Master of the Worshipful Company of Management Consultants and now sits on the City’s Members Diversity Working Party.
