Education news

This page gives you an opportunity to find out more about the new database, what it means for you and what key deadlines are in place if you are hoping to transfer to Fellowship this year.

A new database and what it means for you

You may have read in the last newsletter that we are working to upgrade our education processes to a new database. It is likely that we will be launching this in January 2013 and there will be some implications for you.

Exam entry for the April 2013 exam session will open on 28 January 2013, as will the first booking period of 2013 for the practical exams. Please try to get your exam entry or booking in early as this will really help us.

Whilst the database software is being thoroughly tested, there may be some teething problems as we open up the booking and especially when we hit the peak processing time (usually the week before each closing date).

If we do launch in January then once the new database has settled down and we are confident of the processes working, we will be looking to develop the services we provide to you, particularly electronic enhancements.  Bear with us whilst we make this transition onto the new database. We will keep you posted of any developments via the website, future newsletters and on our twitter page.

Transferring to the class of Associate or Fellow

If passing your exams this year will result in you now having the required exams to become an Associate or Fellow, you will be sent information on the completion of work-based skills or the work experience requirement for transfer, and details of how to proceed.

For you to be recorded as a 2012 qualifier the necessary paperwork must be completed and returned to us by 31 January 2013. Any queries or gaps in your paperwork must be resolved and signed off by Monday 11 February 2013, and the final transfer form must be received by 17.00 (UK time) on Monday 18 February 2013. If your documentation is not ready for final sign off by this date or you haven't submitted a transfer form you will not be able to be recorded as a 2012 qualifier.

We strongly recommend that you prepare the relevant work-based skills/ work experience information in advance of the results date to enable you to submit this before the deadline.
