Welcome to our first European Region newsletter With ever increasing numbers of members in Europe, we wanted to be able to reach you in a more personal way so that you get a feel for the sort of things we are doing to help build the membership community.
We have a very strong presence in Europe, with great work being done through the Groupe Consultatif, and of course many of our member events being held in various European destinations. This year we will also be awarding a best paper prize at the International Winter School in Monte Verità in Tescino. The prize is targeted at young researchers working on current actuarial science topics. It is intended to bring together 60 young researchers across disciplines to discuss two main areas of research of today's insurance risk: longevity risk and collective risk theory. Another key event happening in Europe this year is the 125th anniversary of het Actuarieel Genootschap (AG) in The Hague in May.
Projects such as the ones above are ongoing and it is an exciting prospect for us to be able to report on these events. We encourage you to come along to meet with the Profession, to network with your peers or to provide feedback through volunteering or participating in your local member interest group.
