Joining the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

Exemptions from professional exams
Depending on the modules taken and the grades obtained, completion of these actuarial degree programmes can lead to recommendation for exemption from some or all of the subjects shown.
BSc in Actuarial Science / BSc in Actuarial Science (with a year in industry) / Postgraduate Diploma in Actuarial Science
- Exemption from Core Technical Stage subjects: CT1, CT2, CT3, CT4, CT5, CT6, CT7, CT8
Please note that it is possible to gain individual exemptions if appropriate modules are passed at an appropriate standard.
MSc in Applied Actuarial Science
- Exemption from Core Applications Stage subjects: CA1, CA3
- Exemption from Specialist Technical Stage subjects: up to three subjects from ST2, ST4, ST5, ST6, ST7, ST8, ST9
Please note that it is possible to gain individual exemptions if appropriate modules are passed at an appropriate standard. The Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science also offers a BSc in Financial Mathematics which may lead to individual exemptions from a maximum of CT1, CT2, CT3, CT6, CT7 and CT8 depending on modules taken.
