Chris Lewin

Chris Lewin has spent most of his career managing pension schemes for large firms, including British Rail, Associated Newspapers, Guinness, Unilever and EDF Energy.   He was chairman of the trustees at Marconi in 2004/5 and is currently an investment committee member of The Pensions Trust.

He was appointed by the Department for Work and Pensions as one of the two reviewers who conducted the Deregulatory Review of Private Pensions, and whose report was submitted to the minister for pensions reform in July 2007.

For 15 years he has led the joint risk-management initiative between the actuarial and civil engineering professions, which has resulted in the publication of generic methodologies for analysing and managing project risk and strategic risk. This work is now broadening out into enterprise risk management.  He advises the Government Actuary’s Department on risk in the public sector.

Living in Scotland, he is married with two sons, aged 19 and 22.   His book, Pensions and Insurance before 1800 – a social history, was published in 2003.
