Paul FulcherPaul Fulcher, Chair

 

Paul Fulcher is a Managing Director, and Head of European Insurance and Pensions Advisory, at RBS.

 

He started his actuarial career with Friends Provident, and then moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers as a consulting actuary.

 

He then spent three years in corporate finance at PwC and HSBC, advising on merger and acquisitions in the life insurance sector in Japan.

 

He joined RBS in 2009 after spending eight years at UBS Investment Bank where, as Managing Director Risk Advisory and Capital Solutions, he was responsible for risk management analysis and capital market solutions to life insurers and pension funds across Europe.

 

Alvar Chambers


Alvar joined Insight in 2004 as a LDI portfolio manager within the Financial Solutions Group, focusing on developing and managing LDI strategies for pension fund and insurance clients.

 

Prior to joining Insight, Alvar worked at Aon Consulting where he was a principal in its investment consulting practice, advising UK pension fund clients on a full range of investment strategy issues.  He joined Aon in 2001 from Hewitt Bacon & Woodrow where he was a senior investment consultant.

 

Alvar graduated from Warwick University in 1992 with a first class honours degree in mathematics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.


 

Stuart JarvisStuart Jarvis, Deputy Chair


Stuart Jarvis is a Managing Director at Blackrock based in London. He carries out research for Blackrock's multi-asset client solutions team, leading the research effort behind the solutions and strategies to help meet a wide range of client investment problems. These range from Liability Driven Investment through to diversified portfolio construction. He has written a number of articles on pensions and investment and is a regular speaker at conferences.

 

Prior to joining Barclays Global Investors (now part of Blackrock) he worked for seven years for Hewitt Bacon & Woodrow. While there, he worked as a benefits actuary, holding a number of scheme appointments, and was heavily involved in developing the stochastic asset/liability modelling capabilities of the firm.

 

Stuart holds a BA degree from Cambridge University and a D.Phil from Oxford University, in mathematics. He was a research fellow for three years at Oxford before leaving to join Bacon & Woodrow.

 

Stuart is deputy chairman of the Finance and Investment PEC.

Adrian LawrenceAdrian Lawrence 

 

Adrian's qualifications include a first class maths degree, a PhD in theoretical physics and an MBA.

 

Building on his experience in the traditional life assurance industry, Adrian moved into asset management where he has worked in operations, asset liability management and as a client director for organisations such as Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse and Henderson Global Investors.

 

He is now Head of Onshore Product Governance at Barclays Global Investors in London.

Paul Stanworth, Director of Investment Strategy, Annuities at L&G.

 

Paul is an ALM practitioner, managing the risks at L&G within the context of annuity funds. Paul has over twenty years' experience in the insurance and pensions industry covering life office actuarial, fund management and investment banking.

Chris WattsChris Watts


Chris is a Vice President in Morgan Stanley's Fixed Income Group, focusing on providing multi-asset solutions to UK Pension Funds.

 

He started his career as a pensions and investment consulting actuary at Barnett Waddingham before joining J.P. Morgan in 2005 to focus on providing multi-asset derivative solutions for UK pension funds and life insurers. He quickly became involved in the development of the market in pension scheme buyouts, spending time on secondment with one of the start-ups pension insurers.

 

In 2008-9 he worked in the Pensions Advisory Group at J.P. Morgan providing risk management solutions for both pension funds and insurance companies, focusing on the development of the market in longevity and mortality risk transfer solutions globally.

 

He joined Morgan Stanley in January 2010.

 

Chris holds an MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University.
