Stuart Shepley

Stuart Shepley joined the non-life insurance actuarial team at KPMG in January 2009, where he is a partner responsible for growing and developing KPMG's non-life insurance risk and actuarial practice across Europe. He specialises in advising on the application of actuarial methods to proactively manage risk and uncertainty in financial services. Stuart has over 25 years' experience in the insurance industry.  A partner at his previous firm, he was also chief operating office of ACE's international reinsurance businesses. Prior to this, he was a director of CGU's UK non-life business and a product development actuary.

Professionally Stuart takes a keen interest in the development of the actuarial profession, being a Fellow and council member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and an affiliate of the Casualty Actuarial Society.  He currently chairs the Profession's general insurance practice executive committee and is also a member of the enterprise risk management practice executive committee.  Stuart's ambitions are to share best practice actuarial expertise in the international market, shape the industry's response to international matters, including both Solvency II and IFRS, and to broaden the career prospects for actuaries globally.
