Professionalism Awareness Committee

The Professionalism Awareness Committee (PAC) has a Chairman and four voluntary actuary members.

The Committee meets six times a year and had a Case Studies sub-committee to help deliver its projects.

 

Tony Hewitt

Tony is the Chairman of the Professionalism Awareness Committee.

Tony helps run the Actuarial Finance MSc at Imperial College Business School - a route for full-time actuarial trainees to qualify as actuaries, combining work-based skills with an Imperial Masters education.

Tony is also a member of the Finance and Investment Education, Research and CPD Committee. He campaigns to integrate professional awareness into all actuarial education, research and CPD.

David is a Director in the Risk Consulting and Software practice of Towers Watson and is the practice's Professional Excellence leader for EMEA region.  In this role he advises colleagues on professionalism matters including confucts of interest and other ethical issues.

David is a life assurance specialist and also holds a number of Actuarial Function Holder and With-Profits Actuary roles.  In addition he is a member of the Actuarial Profession's Practising Certificates Committee and Life Standards and Consultations Committee.

David works for Pacific Life Re as Chief Marketing Officer, UK & Ireland. He previously held senior roles at Swiss Re and Legal & General.

David has served for many years as a Life Principal Lecturer on professionalism courses for newly qualified actuaries. He also served for six years as Chairman of the CMI Critical Illness Committee.

Carl is a partner in Hymans Robertson LLP and has over 27 year's industry experience having specialised in investment consulting since 1993.  In addition to his client work, Carl spent many years in a business risk management role within an investment consulting environment, leading on professionalism issues, working alongside internal audit and compliance as well as undertaking best practice reviews.

Tom is a general insurance practitioner working for Swiss Re where he has a global team developing pricing tools.  He has been a senior examiner for General Insurance.
