Standards Approval Process

This page contains information about the process which Actuarial Profession Standards (APSs) and Information and Assistance Notes (IANS) need to go through in order to be published and the style which they are to follow.

Standards Approval Process

The Standards Approval Process, which is overseen by the Standards Review Committee sets out the process by which APSs and IANs need to follow in order to be published and binding on our members.  There are also 3 appendices to the Standards Approval Process which are:

Appendix 1: Proposal to the Standards Review Committee
Appendix 2: Style guidelines for the production of an APS
Appendix 3: Style guidelines for the production of an IAN
Appendix 4: Sample consultation feedback and responses document

Previous Standards Approval Process

The current Standards Approval Process replaces the previous Due Process

Due process for responding to proposals from the IAA for International Standards of Actuarial Practice (ISAPs)

Members will also be aware that the International Actuarial Association (IAA) has the power to produce its own International Standards of Actuarial Practice (ISAPs). We have a process to follow in response to such proposals from the IAA which can be found here: Version 1.0
