The aim of this paper is to describe the types of insurance that make up the aviation and space insurance market, and to provide a degree of understanding as to how these complex and unique markets work. The main market sectors are considered in some detail\; the main drivers and trends in these sectors have been described. The major issues affecting the market are looked at, as well as the possible responses from the Aviation insurance industry to these issues. Possible future changes have been suggested. The paper includes a brief section where market data obtained by the Working Party has been projected to its ultimate position.
