The Actuarial Profession is well aware that conflicts of interest affect actuaries, either in reality or in perception and believes that the majority of conflicts are managed and resolved successfully. However, concern exists about the extent and nature of unreconciled conflicts and how best to handle them. The Profession seeks the views of interested parties, including users of actuarial advice and regulators (as well as actuaries themselves) about their experience of conflicts of interest to assist us in understanding the extent of the problems conflicts can cause and in determining what would be the most effective method of delivering further regulation, guidance and support.
