Final report: Responding to the Dilnot Commission: Information gathering regarding long-term care in ten countries
Document description
Produced by the University of Southampton, led by Doug Andrews, in response to a Call issued by the Actuarial Profession in July 2011. Please note that this report and appendices total 113 pages.
The primary research required the identification of publicly available information regarding long-term care, and specifically private financial services solutions available to provide funding for care, in ten national entities identified by the Profession. In order to perform the primary research leading to the production of the interim report within the specified time frame of two months, the University engaged two significant organisations and a number of independent researchers, as sub-contractors. The organisations are the International Longevity Centre-UK and the National Academy of Social Insurance in the United States.
Once the primary research was compiled, a gap analysis was performed, which was the main required product of the research. Two types of gap analysis are presented. The one identifies the gap in the information and data identified for the countries. The other identifies gaps in the private financial services solutions. This report also reports on potential research projects that might complement this report, as identified by the participants in the forum.
