A Framework for the use of Discount Rates in Actuarial Work

The purpose of this brief note is to set out some background to the discount rate project and outline the framework proposed by the Discount Rates Steering Committee. It is aimed at knowledgeable users of actuarial advice, including Government, regulators, academics and other professionals who may find the framework proposals useful when considering the positions taken by members of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries on discount rates.
