Technical Reserves Working Party

This paper is the first of a series of papers to be produced by the technical reserves working party. The main object of these papers is to describe methods which can be used to estimate technical. reserves in general insurance having made due allowance for the various circumstances experienced in practice. Explanatory comments will be provided to assist the user in selecting and applying the different methods described. At the request of members of the general insurance study group the first paper has been restricted to the subject of estimating reserves for claims which have been incurred but have not been reported (IBNR).
