CMI Working paper 23

Working paper 23 has been produced by the Cause of Disability Working Party which reports to the IP Committee. The paper provides an initial analysis of the individual income protection data by cause of disability, based largely on the experience for 1991-2002. While the cause of disability information has been collected since the investigation's inception, little work has been done to date to analyse its impact on claims experience. Although the claims inception experience is examined in the paper, the paper focuses on the claims terminations experience as the Working Party considers that practitioners would find this of more practical benefit, particularly in reserving more reliably for claims in the course of payment.
