Long-term care project
The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries has undertaken a thought leadership research project on funding for long-term care.
Phase One of this project is an in-depth review of the international literature in the area of long-term care and the various means of funding it. An analysis of any gaps in topics relating to long-term care in published or publicly available material has been produced. The successful proposal was awarded to an international team formed by the University of Southampton comprising actuaries, researchers and organisations, led by Doug Andrews. A forum of experts was held on 14 October 2011 at Staple Inn where an interim report was presented.
The final report, taking account of feedback from the forum, was published in November 2011. The appendices to the report contain publicly available material used in compiling the report.
The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries will review the data with the possibility of developing new data capturing analyses. This may lead to a separate call for research early in 2012.
