John is a Principal based in Mercer’s Birmingham office.
John currently acts as scheme actuary to the trustees of nine pension schemes and is the lead pensions consultant providing advice to a range of Mercer clients, across the full spectrum of trustees, corporate and accounting advice. These clients cover multi-nationals and UK companies involved in a wide range of industry sectors (e.g. retail, manufacturing, leisure & infrastructure), with the size of pension schemes ranging from £10m to more than £1bn and covering both defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) schemes.
John is also a member of Mercer’s Benefit Conversion Programme speciality group, providing advice to trustees and corporate clients on enhanced transfer values, pension increase exchange exercises etc.
He has worked for Mercer for 19 years, qualified as an actuary in 1999 and is a graduate of Warwick University with a BSc in MORSE (Maths, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics).
