The amount of digital data in the universe is growing at an exponential rate and changing how we live in the world. Big data has almost limitless potential and already is doing everything from decoding DNA strands to predicting disease patterns as well as providing new measurement capabilities for doctors, insurers, regulators and even patients themselves.

This edition of the Longevity Bulletin presents a number of theoretical and practical examples on the uses of big data in health. One of those examples is the growing prevalence of wearable technology that offers interesting insights into fine-tuning mortality and morbidity models.
