This year's Spring Lecture will be delivered by Michael Green, Executive Director of the Social Progress Imperative. Michael will be explaining what ‘social progress’ really means, and the importance of rigorous and meaningful measurements to help quantify how well nations are coping with the world’s biggest challenges.

The Lecture is part of the IFoA's campaign to address the role of the global actuarial profession in meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and is being delivered in person and online via live stream.

This year's lecture will also include presentation of Honorary Fellowship to Lord Adair Turner.

Michael will be talking about how we measure the progress of our societies in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals, and specifically the importance of measurement in order to drive progress. The SPI has produced scorecards that show how countries are performing 'beyond GDP' in terms of the real quality of life of citizens.

In his lecture he will address the challenges and opportunities associated with using metrics in this way.

Join us in London or online for a unique perspective on how the actuarial skillset can help with the achievement of the SDGs.

Call for Evidence - SDGs

As a part of our thought leadership series, we are calling upon our members to tell us how they think actuaries can contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Visit our Sustainable Development Goals  pages to see how you can get involved, including hosting an evidence gathering workshop with our ‘made easy guide.’  In addition our Resources page shows numerous examples of how other industry bodies are using financial services to achieve the goals.
