A breakfast briefing on the Financial Stability Board’s Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosure with Russell Picot, Special Advisor to the Task Force and Louise Pryor, Chair of the IFoA’s Resource and Environment Board.

The Financial Stability Board’s Taskforce on Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Chaired by Michael Bloomberg and heralded by Mark Carney, was established in 2016 to provide the financial services sector with recommendations for producing consistent and reliable climate-related financial disclosures.  These recommendations enable investors to make better informed decisions and lenders, insurers, and underwriters to evaluate their risk over the short, medium and long-term.

As actuaries possess the expertise to identify and manage long- term risks, they can have a significant role in helping companies understand and respond to the financial and reputational risks posed by climate-related risks over the long- term. This breakfast briefing will be an opportunity for actuaries to see how they can harness their skills to drive these recommendations and work alongside others to deliver the recommendations within their organisation.

Russell Picot, Special Advisor to the FSB's Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, will provide an overview of the recommendations and the subsequent work to promote the recommendations. Louise Pryor, Chair of the IFoA’s Resource and Environment Board, will then explore the role of actuaries. There will be an opportunity for putting questions to Russell and Louise, as well as networking.

This event is open to non-members as well as IFoA members.
