Wednesday 10 February 2016 14:00 - 17:00

This is a Leicester Actuarial Science Society event.

On 10 February 2016 a Worshipful Company of Actuaries lecture will be taking place at the University of Leicester, which will be a Leicester Actuarial Science Society event.

Andrew Smith will be the guest speaker. We also have Peter Thompson, the Master of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries, as well as Andrew coming to speak. There will be refreshments and a chance to chat to the students and other guests after the event.

The topic of the talk will be Readjusting the Rations, based on the work of the actuarial profession’s Financial Inequality working party.

Since the paper was written, Thomas Piketty’s book and a number of others have come out on the theme of inequality and its economic consequences, so the opportunity to reflect on how the debate has developed in front of a mixture of actuaries, actuarial students and academics is well-timed.

After the presentation, the Worshipful Company of Actuaries will be explaining its work and presenting two prizes: one each to the best performing 2nd year and 3rd year BSc Mathematics and Actuarial Science student during the session.
