In October 2016 we announced the changes that are being made to our curriculum in preparation for its launch in 2019.

The full new curriculum will be introduced from the April 2019 exam sitting. However, we will be introducing the new Personal and Professional Development (PPD) structure (which is replacing work-based skills) and the new format CA3 (now called CP3) from September 2017.

CP3 will be examined by one three-hour computer based exam. During the exam you will be expected to cover what and how to communicate, prepare a written communication to a non-actuarial audience and justify the techniques you used in your communication.  It will not include a practical presentation element.

The practical presentation element of the current CA3 exam will be included within PPD and not in CP3. You will only be required to cover the presentation element once, either within CA3 (if you have passed it before September 2017) or under the new PPD structure.

Details of the new CP3 exam have not yet been finalised, so we are not in a position to share any further information at this stage. We appreciate that you will be eager to find out more about the new exam, and we are working to publish details and sample exam papers in late April or early May.

Having heard this news if you are currently booked onto the April CA3 exam and would like to withdraw and wait until September then please contact Education Services (tel: +44 (0) 1865 268 207) by the exam booking closing date 27 February 2017 (17.00 UK time) and they will arrange a refund of the fee you paid.
