Closing Date: 12 March 2019

The Health and Care Research Sub-committee is looking for volunteers interested in writing and presenting short research papers (approx. 5-10 pages) for thier annual Hot Topics event (4 November 2019), in London.  These short research papers are intended to provoke discussion and lead to possible further research and debate.

The committee is open to all current hot topics (which should have a technical actuarial focus), however, there is a particular interest in the following areas:

  • Obesity and Diabetes
  • Aging Population
  • Alzheimer’s
  • Social Care and Long-Term Care
  • Mental Health / Wellness
  • NHS and Public Health
  • Technology and Health Care
  • Genetics
  • The above list of examples is not exhaustive and we would welcome submissions on other topics.

The committee is unable to cover travel costs for international members to present at this event.  However, it may be possible to arrange for submitters to present their paper remotely.  We would also be keen to support international applicants to present locally where IFoA Regional Communities exist internationally, or to have your paper published on the Research Committee website or in another actuarial publication such as The Actuary or BAJ, subject to length and editorial board approval.

If you are interested in producing and presenting a paper, please submit a 100 word abstract via the call for speakers web page.
