From 1 June 2016 you will no longer be able to make an exam appeal on the grounds of an inappropriate grade having been awarded.

Were you aware that two independent exam markers mark your script?

These markers have no idea what mark the other has awarded, and if the two marks are far apart, or you are close the pass mark, your script is marked again.

It therefore may not surprise you to learn that that the appeal category of inappropriate grade awarded is not successful.

After discussion and a decision by the Education Board we are dropping this category from the exam appeal process.

From 1 June you will be able to make an appeal either on administration grounds, or if there are mitigating circumstances that could not be made known immediately after the exam.
