IFoA has been been recognised by the membership sector’s leading awards programme, the MemCom membership excellence awards, which celebrate outstanding achievement among professional bodies, associations, charities and the wider not-for-profit sector.

The IFoA was Highly Commended in the Best Integrated Campaign category for the “Data Science campaign”. Spearheaded by IFoA Past President, John Taylor, the innovative multi-channel campaign capitalised on the deep knowledge and expertise of our members in this area to demonstrate the profession’s authority in this exciting new area.

Through the development of unique content and thought leadership, the campaign successfully created a single integrated campaign by bringing together our member’s individual insights into a unified campaign that would change how IFoA members, employers and the public think about actuaries and data science.

The IFoA’s first win came in the Best Email Newsletter category.

Over the last two year the IFoA’s Marketing, Communications and Digital team has listened to what our members value most, and worked hard to upgrade the member experience into a single ‘all member’ newsletter that uses dynamic content to deliver content that’s tailored to our members personal interests.

Through improved design, technology and processes, the new IFoA was adjudged to deliver the sector’s leading newsletter; providing the critical information IFoA members value in a streamlined, modernised form.

The final award win of the ceremony was awarded for the IFoA’s Count Me In campaign in the Best Equality, Diversity or Inclusion Campaign category.

The campaign was designed to address issues of social mobility, diversity and inclusion in the actuarial profession, reaching out to young people from diverse backgrounds with a talent for Maths at key points in their careers decision making journey.

Count Me In positioned the profession as both accessible and inspiring, connecting students with employers and universities and giving them the confidence to choose to begin their journey towards a career as an actuary.

Tessa McAuliffe, IFoA Acquisition and Retention Marketing Leader, was delighted to see one of the IFoA’s key careers campaigns achieve wider recognition: “It’s fantastic that the IFoA’s work supporting bright maths students from diverse backgrounds to take their first steps toward a career in actuarial science has been recognised by Memcom. The Count Me In campaign would not have been possible without the support of so many IFoA employees and volunteers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made Count Me In a success, including; our Career Ambassadors, Education Actuaries, Herriot Watt University and our sponsors. We are already working on this year’s Count Me In event, which we will be hosting online, and look forward to reaching more actuaries of the future and further widening participation.”

IFoA has now won or been highly commended in six Memcom award categories in the last two years, demonstrating our commitment to improving our member’s experience, understanding what it is our members really value, and building on that insight in partnership to drive big changes in the way our members connect with the IFoA.
