Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) saw a fantastic turn out for its first Open Day on Saturday 27 June 2015.
The Open Day was attended by both prospective students and their parents. Caryn Chua, the IFoA's actuary representative in South East Asia, gave a talk on the roles and responsibilities of actuaries, and the pathway to becoming a successful actuary.
HWUM is the only university in Malaysia accredited by the IFoA. It offers a pathway in Actuarial Science that begins with its Foundation in Business and Design Actuarial route. After this, graduates can progress to the university's three-year BSc (Hons) Actuarial Science programme.
The Open Day was featured in the local Malaysian newspaper, The Star, on Thursday 25 June (see below).
