The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) has awarded the Quality Assurance Scheme (QAS) accreditation to the Government Actuary's Department (GAD) after its successful application for inclusion in the flagship scheme.  The GAD is the first public sector organisation to receive QAS accreditation.

The QAS is a voluntary accreditation scheme available on application to organisations that employ members of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).  It is designed for organisations who wish to demonstrate their commitment to effective quality assurance at the organisational level that underpins the quality of actuarial work.  All organisations receiving QAS accreditation have to pass a rigorous, independent assessment of their working environment, culture and processes.

Martin Clarke, Government Actuary, said:

Martin Clarke, Government ActuaryWe are delighted that GAD has been awarded the QAS accreditation.

The accreditation recognises our commitment to providing high quality actuarial advice to support effective decision-making and robust reporting within government and the wider public sector.

Having attained this standard, we will continue to innovate and promote high quality actuarial work using the QAS framework.

We are grateful to the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries for developing this quality standard and for the feedback received during the accreditation process.
