Techniques used by scientists in fields such as biology and complexity are being applied to risk management in a radical new approach which promises to reduce unwelcome surprises.
Neil Cantle, an actuary at Milliman, will outline the CRisALIS™ approach at the Actuarial Profession’s annual risk and investment conference on 13 -15 June, Hilton Caledonian, Edinburgh. The approach has been explored as part of the Profession’s emerging risk working party.

Full results of the merger ballot between the Faculty of Actuaries and the Institute of Actuaries

Of those Faculty members who took part in the vote, 82.9% voted in favour of the resolution. Of those Institute members who took part in the vote, 82.5% voted in favour of the resolution.
Ronnie Bowie, President of the Faculty, said: ‘We can now build a unified, modern and outward looking professional body that reflects the goals and aspirations of our members. The diversity of our membership is a source of great strength.’
Actuaries to vote on future of the Profession

The Councils look forward to the vote on 25 May 2010 with conviction that a merger will provide the basis for a more modern organisation to represent actuaries worldwide, and to promote UK actuarial practice globally.
The two bodies collectively represent 21,000 members worldwide.
