On your exam day

In preparation for your exam day there are a number of things that you need to remember

Exam entry permits Your exam entry permit will be available to download 2 weeks before the exam session starts. It is your responsibility to download and print the permit, and to take it with you to your exam.
The permit will: allow you entrance to the exam hall, confirm your exam booking, give you your candidate number and provide other important information.
Proof of identity You also need to bring photographic proof of identity with you to your exam. Suitable examples are a current passport, driving licence or identity card. This will be checked by the invigilator during the exam.
Exam start times At some centres the exam start times are varied, due to the centre's local requirements. The time shown on your exam permit is the local start time at your centre, but make sure that you check the Exam news and updates page to see whether a late change has been notified at your centre.

Reading time All exams have 15 minutes reading time at the start. Make sure that you know what you are allowed to do during this time.

Handwriting Make sure that you write clearly, so that the examiners can read your work and give you full credit.

Write with black pen Remember to write in black pen as your exam script will be scanned ready for marking.
Calculators You need to use an authorised calculator for your exams. Using an incorrect calculator in any exam will result in you receiving a mark of zero.

Smartwatches Smartwatches are not to be used during the exams. All other types of analogue and digital watches are allowed, but you will need to place your watch on your desk at the start of the exam. Clocks will be available in all exam rooms.
Mobile phones Mobile phones are not permitted on your person in the exam room. They must be switched off, and left in your bag with your other personal belongings.
Formulae and Tables book Where you need it, a copy of the Formulae and Tables book will be provided for you on your exam desk. You should not bring your own copy.

After you have sat your exam

Mitigating circumstances If you were ill whilst taking your exam, or other serious circumstances prevented you doing your best, you can apply for this to be taken into consideration.

Comments about your exam sitting If you have any comments about your exam centre please complete an exam comments form, and return this to us within three weeks of the exams taking place.
