The Basic State Pension is Ł67.50 per week - 18% of median earnings. It has fallen in relation to earnings over the last 20 years as a result of the price linking formula - it would otherwise have reached Ł99 per week. Increases in the 2000 pre-Budget statement do not fundamentally alter this.
