While actuaries have always been involved in data, with modern technology, there is more data than ever before.

Whether it is telematics, the internet of things, online quotation engines or simply more detail in the claim and premium information, there has never been so much data for an actuary to analyse.

However, as in the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, all that data doesn’t mean there is anything to drink. It is increasingly important that the right analysis and tools are available to the actuary.
