Actuarial Partner – James.Isherwood@mazars.co.uk

James leads our Insurance Consulting practice. He is based in London and has over 20 years of international experience in insurance consulting. James has an actuarial background, and in recent years he has had a strong focus on strategic optimisation of insurance companies through changes to target operating models, data platforms and governance. He also has a strong history in capital performance, IFRS 17 implementation and process improvement in finance / actuarial functions. He has also been involved in large-scale global assessment and change programmes at group functions and local business units.

Dorian is a qualified actuary with more than 24 years of general insurance consultancy and industry experience. Dorian joined Mazars in 2020 as a Partner. Dorian’s extensive experience includes leading many large and complex audit assignments, Actuarial Function Holder support, Capital work including model validation, model build and model approval process, performing numerous reserves reviews and as part of this holding an SAO certificate, producing skilled persons reports under s166 of FSMA 2000, being heavily involved in a number of very large Part VII Transfers, Scheme work involving the valuation of APH liabilities, Finance transformation exercises and pricing projects.

Dorian has gained significant industry experience through secondments, including working as Finance Director, Chief Actuary (three times), Capital Actuary and Head of Claim Risk.

Tom is a qualified actuary with significant experience focusing on reserving, insurance claims consulting, expert witness support, Solvency II, due diligence and actuarial audits.

Tom has led numerous actuarial engagements, including reserve reviews, capital projections and reinsurance modelling. He has also been involved in expert witness projects including Part VII transfers and actuarial analysis of insurance related legal proceedings. In addition, Tom has experience across insurance lines in the UK and Europe, including motor, property, health, financial lines, liability, MAT and credit insurance lines. He has also gained significant experience of APH claims. He has worked on many claims consulting projects, reviewing and developing models.
