IFoA Leadership Team

Honorary Officers and Chief Executive of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA)

The IFoA has three elected Honorary Officers: the President, the Immediate Past President and the President-elect (collectively the Presidential Team) 

The President is a volunteer role held by a Fellow or Associate of the IFoA.  The commitment for this role is three years, sequentially as President-elect, President and Immediate Past President.  Handover takes place at the IFoA’s annual general meeting held each year.  The President is the Chair of Council.

The Chief Executive is with the Presidential team a core part of the leadership of the IFoA

He or she is appointed by the IFoA’s Management Board.

Together the Chief Executive and the Presidential team are the IFoA’s main ambassadors and represent the IFoA in the UK and internationally.

    Mis-estimation risk is a key element of demographic risk, and past work has focused on mis-estimation risk on a run-off basis.  However, this does not meet the requirements of regulatory regimes like Solvency II, which demands that capital requirements are set through the prism of a finite horizon like one year.  This paper presents a value-at-risk approach to mis-estimation risk suitable for Solvency II work.
