Partial regulation

To apply for partial regulation you must be an Associate or Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), hold an equivalent level of membership of an International Actuarial Association (IAA) affiliated body, and be working outside the UK on non-UK related business

Partially regulated members of the IFoA are fully regulated by another IAA affiliated body. Partially regulated members cannot work in the UK or carry out UK-related work.

Please check the criteria for partial regulation in the Certificate of Eligibility

If you meet all of the criteria listed in the Certificate of Eligibility please complete and return the form to the Membership Team.  If you are a first time applicant, please enclose proof of your membership status with your primary regulator.

Partially regulated members are now Category 3 members of the IFoA and subject to the requirements of the CPD Scheme.

Applications for partial regulation must be submitted to the membership team by 31 December each year for subscriptions due on 1 October in the same year

If applications are not received by the 31 December you will revert to being a fully regulated Category 2 member of the IFoA.

If you are transferring to Associate or Fellow after 31 December you still have the option to make an application for partial regulation

You have one month from the date of transfer to Associate or Fellow in which to submit a Certificate of Eligibility and pay the applicable balance of subscription.
