Following the publication of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) White Paper on reform of audit and corporate governance which sets out important proposals for the future of UK actuarial regulation, a number of initiatives are already underway to ensure the profession’s voice is heard in this important debate.

A dedicated IFoA Council-led steering group - the Regulatory Strategy Group - is leading the IFoA’s response to the consultation on behalf of the profession, and will be seeking views and feedback to inform the response. Members of this group and the IFoA’s Executive Team are also leading engagement with stakeholders across the industry who have an interest in the White Paper, as well as with Government officials.

The IFoA intends to host a series of webinars with groups of members to ensure you are appraised of the Government’s proposals and to update you on the profession’s view. Further details are to follow in due course.

The FRC will also be holding a webinar Wednesday, 12 May 2021, 1:00pm – 1:45pm to discuss actuarial regulatory reform. This webinar will be focused on the:

  • statutory regulatory basis
  • setting, monitoring & enforcing standards, and
  • regulating entities.
