We are very sorry to report the passing of Council member Mahidhara Davangere who has died from Covid-19.
Mahidhara was an active member of the actuarial profession. He was elected to the IFoA Council in 2020 (having originally been co-opted in 2019). He was also Deputy Chair of the Finance and Investment Board. In addition to his IFoA commitments, Mahidhara was also Vice Chair of Actuaries du Monde and previously a Board member of Actuaries Without Borders. He also volunteered for the Institute of Actuaries of India and the International Actuarial Association.
IFoA chief executive Stephen Mann said: “Based in Bangalore, Mahidhara had served on Council since 2019, where he earned the greatest of respect with his peers, and I know many of us, with his passion for the actuarial profession, his energy to serve the IFoA and his kindness to those he encountered.
“At the time of his passing, he was Managing Director of Pramartha – an actuarial risk management and consulting firm he founded with offices across Asia, EMEA and the US. He was a very proud IFoA-qualified Associate Actuary.
“We at the IFoA are profoundly saddened by his passing and offer our deepest condolences to his family.”
A longer obituary will follow in due course.
On behalf of all members and employees of the IFoA, we pass on our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
