The Pensions Board has established this working party to consider the Research Recommendations from the recently published Thematic Review - Pensions: actuarial factors used to calculate benefits in UK pension schemes which affect the advice given by actuaries on commutation rates.
The aims of the working party will be focused on producing reference materials to consider the following:
- The appropriate allowances to make for selection risk, market volatility, and other common criteria in use in the determination of commutation rates.
- How frequent and when should commutation rates be reviewed.
- How actuaries should present their review of commutation rates to Trustees or other decision-makers.
Outputs
The working party outputs will be added over time.
