Out of 30,000 members of the IFoA (December 2016), only 440 (1.5%) were identified as part of the health and care sector. However, with the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic and stresses on public health care financing systems throughout the world, Health and Care is garnering increased attention amongst actuaries within and outside the UK
Key objectives
To explore three key questions:
- What are the existing roles of actuaries in Health and Care and what is the potential for expansion?
- What are the barriers to more engagement of actuaries in Health & Care?
- How can the IFoA better equip and enable its members to expand and deepen their involvement in Health and Care?
Key outputs
- The Role of the Actuary in Health and Care, report published 21 December 2022
- Presentation at a Health and Care Research webinar
