CMI Working Paper 185 was published in February 2024.
The working paper, in conjunction with Working Paper 181, describes the final “S4” Series mortality tables.
The S4 tables are based on data for 2014 to 2019, to avoid years affected by the coronavirus pandemic, and have an effective date of 1 January 2017. We described the dataset, graduation methods, and proposed S4 tables in detail in the consultation in Working Paper 181 and have not reproduced that detail in this paper.
The paper summarises feedback on the consultation, discusses the Committee’s response to the feedback, and describes one planned change to the proposed tables.
We have previously released three series of mortality tables for Self-Administered Pension Schemes, with the latest being the S3 Series in 2018.
The SAPS Committee hosted a webinar on 8 March 2024 to discuss the final “S4” Series tables. The webinar was presented by Matt Fletcher (Chair of the SAPS Committee). Instructions and information on how to view the webinar recording can be found by downloading this document.
Spreadsheets
We have released two spreadsheets to accompany this paper:
- A spreadsheet that contains the final S4 mortality rates: CMI WP185 Final S4 Series mortality rates v1 2024-02-26.xlsx.
- A spreadsheet containing values underlying charts in this paper: CMI WP185 Chart values v1 2024-02-26.xlsx.
In May 2024, at the request of a Subscriber, we released some additional data: CMI WP185 Additional data v01 2024-05-17.xlsx. This relates to the mortality rates and data for the general population that are used in the low age and high age extensions for certain tables.
The paper and accompanying spreadsheets are available to Authorised Users only.
