Final AGM of the Institute of Actuaries

The final AGM of the Institute of Actuaries took place at Staple Inn Hall on 30 July 2010 and out-going President, Nigel Masters, used the opportunity to pay thanks to colleagues and to award prizes and awards to those who had furthered the cause of the Actuarial Profession.

The Actuarial Profession has made its submission to the Independent Public Service Pension Commission which is undertaking a fundamental structural review of public service pension provision.

Annals of Actuarial Science Vol 4 Part 2 published

The Profession's international research journal Annals of Actuarial Science has just published Vol 4 Part 2. This issue includes a guest editorial by H Schmidli 'Mathematics: curse or blessing' and articles on tax-efficient pension choices, income protection claim termination rates and calendar year effects, claims inflation and the chain-ladder technique.
Outcome of the merger vote, 25 May 2010

Voting members of the Faculty of Actuaries in Scotland and the Institute of Actuaries have voted in favour of resolutions to merge the two organisations to form the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. The vote on the merger took place at two separate Special General Meetings on 25 May 2010.
The Occupational Pension Schemes (Employer Debt and Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2008 (SI 2008/731)

The Profession has recently learnt that, in order to amend a number of errors in the initial version, the DWP has substituted the present version of The Occupational Pension Schemes (Employer Debt and Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2008 SI 2008/731 for the initial version of the regulations which was laid before Parliament in March 2008 and commenced on 6 April 2008.
