Changes have been made to the exemptions policy for students with degrees from universities in India and Pakistan, which take place with immediate effect.

For students with degrees from universities in India

Applications for exemptions from IFoA exams based on degrees gained from Indian universities will only be considered from students who have graduated from:

  • the Indian Statistical Institute

  • an Indian Institute of Technology, or

  • or an Indian Institute of Management

The IFoA will not grant exemptions based on qualifications from any other universities in India.

For students with degrees from universities in Pakistan

The IFoA will liaise with the Pakistan Society of Actuaries before making a decision on applications for exemptions from IFoA exams based on a degree from any university in Pakistan.

The IFoA’s Education Board have made these changes to the policy on granting exemptions following consultation with the Institute of Actuaries of India and the Pakistan Society of Actuaries.

Details of the application process are on the exemptions pages of the website.
