In Section 3 of Working Paper 106, the CMI proposed a modification to the method used by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) for estimating high age population exposures. The CMI subsequently adopted the modified method, following consultation, and has used it in the production of mortality tables and the calibration dataset for the CMI Mortality Projections Model.
To accompany the working paper, the CMI also published software that applied the exposure adjustment method to ONS data for 1961-2016. We intend to update the software annually, to use more recent ONS datasets while retaining the same method, and to publish the updates on this page.
- CMI Exposure adjustment software (1961-2022, England & Wales only) v1 – based on data which reflects the 2021 census
- No exposure adjustment software was issued for 1961-2021 as this was not needed for any CMI output, and the timing of the release of revised data for 2012-2020 and 2021 following the census and 2022 meant the exposure adjustment software was immediately superseded by data for 1961-2022.
- CMI Exposure adjustment software (1961-2020) v2 – based on data from before the 2021 census
- CMI Exposure adjustment software (1961-2019) v1 – based on data from before the 2021 census
- CMI Exposure adjustment software (1961-2018) v1 – based on data from before the 2021 census
- CMI Exposure adjustment software (1961-2017) v1 – based on data from before the 2021 census
