The premier gathering of UK GI pricing actuaries returns to the Inmarsat Conference Centre on 07 June 2016.

Offering the familiar mix of workshops and plenaries, the Pricing Seminar offers delegates the opportunity to further develop their knowledge of the key challenges facing pricing actuaries today.

Leading practitioners will present on a range of topics aimed at extending the delegates’ understanding of current issues, technical advancements and unusual classes of business.  Sessions will include content relating to Big Data, Aviation and Cat Modelling / Exposure management.  There will also be an interactive session covering Professionalism.

The event will conclude with a drinks reception, providing the opportunity to network with fellow delegates.

The event is aimed at qualified actuaries and students involved in the pricing of personal lines, commercial lines or London Market business in the UK.

Penalised Regression refers to the family of methods for building Generalised Linear Models (GLM) using Regularisation. Methods include Lasso Regression, Ridge Regression and Elastic Net. These methods are extremely popular in the machine learning community with applications such as spam filters and Genomics. We introduce the theory behind these methods and benchmark their performance against the traditional approach to GLM, using real world data.
