For all members (especially volunteers) of the IFoA involved in member led research, or who are thinking of getting involved, it is vital that you are aware of the importance and issues involved in complying with Competition Law. 

As a thank you to all our Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) volunteers (past and present) you are invited to join us at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery for an evening of drinks, canapes and networking, in Edinburgh.

This event is an opportunity for you to discuss how firms and their boards can most effectively anticipate and respond to regulatory change and enhance your understanding of what it means to act in the public interest whilst also staying true to your responsibilities as a director.  As part of the discussion we also aim to help you to develop a better understanding of the principles behind acting ethically in a commercial environment. Horizon-scanning and the potential challenges these might bring including stimulating and digesting useful input on the possible competitive implication of changes and ways to respond to these, thinking about organization capabilities needed to live with change as ‘business as usual’, and making sure the executives’ decision-making framework enables it to spend enough time and resource on growing the business, not just protecting itself.

This session, now in its fifth year, is aimed at senior actuaries working in life insurance - predominantly Chief Actuaries, but also Reviewing Actuaries and others working in risk and financial reporting.

The session is intended to give participants a briefing on current and upcoming considerations for year end reporting and we are aiming to make it as interactive as possible in order to maximise sharing of perspectives and ideas across the group.
