A user guide to climate-related financial disclosures

This guide was produced by a joint working party set up by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) to support all users of climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD). It draws on the insights of both financial and sustainability risk practitioners to help users understand requirements from the TCFD, assess specific disclosures and engage with other professions and teams.

The IFoA’s Cyber Risk Investigation Working Party has been shortlisted in the category of “Campaign of the year” by Insurance Insider Honours, the global (re)insurance awards ceremony that recognises market talent. The ceremony takes place on Thursday 17 September 2020; the nomination is based on the work which the working party did on ‘silent’ cyber exposure assessment from a full IFoA sessional paper to blogs and articles.

CMI notes deaths below 2019 levels for the sixth successive week
During the coronavirus pandemic, the Continuous Mortality Investigation (CMI) is publishing frequent UK mortality analysis through its mortality monitor. This week’s update shows the position as at week 30 of 2020 (18 to 24 July) based on provisional England & Wales deaths data published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on 4 August 2020.

IFoA Fellow Bryn Davies confirmed as peer in UK House of Lords

The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) is delighted to announce that IFoA Fellow Brinley (Bryn) Davies is to become a peer in the UK House of Lords. He is the first qualified actuary to enter either House of Parliament for more than fifty years. The announcement was made by Her Majesty the Queen on Friday 31 July 2020 following approval by the Prime Minister.
