Whether it’s attending a flagship IFoA Conference, a training event or taking part in an online webinar – events are a great way to meet your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.

If you are in CPD categories 1, 2 and 4 you are required to complete a certain number of CPD hours at external events. These can include any training or development activity which exposes you to an exchange of viewpoints and includes individuals from outside your own organisation.

IFoA conferences and events

There are a number of IFoA events taking place before the CPD year ends on 30 June. These range from multi-day conferences to one day seminars and workshops. Upcoming events include; our Asia Conference on 10-11 May, Protection, Health and Care Conference on 21-23 May, Pensions Conference on 4 and 5 June, Current Issues in General Insurance on 17 May, Pricing Seminar on 5 June, Reserving Seminar on 20 June and Risk and Investment Conference on 27-28 June.

Professional Skills events

Professional Skills training is also a requirement for members in categories 1, 2, 3 and 5. You can find upcoming Professional Skills events listed on the IFoA conferences and events calendar.

There is also a host of online material available to help you meet this two hour requirement.

Book your place at our upcoming Professional Skills webinars taking place on Thursday 7 June at 08.30 to 09.30 and 16.30 to 17.30 (BST).

IFoA Regional Community events

You can also find local events run by some of our Regional Communities and on the IFoA events calendar.

Upcoming events taking place before the CPD year ends on the 30 June include; SIAS events on Modelling Antibiotic Resistance on 8 May and Analysing Analytics on 5 June and the KSS events – Current issues in the global regulatory landscape for insurers on 9 May.

You can also find out about IFoA Regional Community events in your local area through our Get Involved pages.

You can also meet your external events requirement remotely so long as the learning activity:

  • Is relevant to the nature of your work or role and addresses a personal development need
  • Exposes you to an exchange of viewpoints; and includes individuals from outside your own organisation

Live Streams and Dial In events

We appreciate that members based outside of large actuarial centres may have fewer opportunities to attend local events, so our events calendar includes a number of webinars, live stream and dial-in events.

Events taking place before the 30 June CPD deadline include; our Sessional Research Event: Health and Care on 18 June 17:30 - 19:30 (BST) and the NoCA UK Event–Fintech and the FCA advice unit on 25 May 12:00 - 13:00 (BST)

Events on our VLE

New content will be coming online in the IFoA’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in June including the Sessional ARC Research Event on Self-selection and Risk Sharing in a Modern World of Life-Long Annuities, and sessions from our Asia Conference 2018.

Log in to the Members Area on the IFoA website to access the latest content in our VLE.
